The Process
We began this process by digitizing our Civil War letters with the help of some of the staff of the Danville Public Library. They generously donated their time and equipment to help us scan our letters and set up our physical archive. With their help our students also learned the importance of preserving historical documents and the methods that historians use to preserve these documents.
We scanned our documents using an Epson V700 scanner creating 600 dpi scans of the letters. If you wish to have original scans of the letters for your own research you can go to our contact page and email Ben Neilson who will be happy to send you the requested files.
