Aaron Hart
Personal Information
Aaron Hart was born in 1827, in Kentucky. Aaron moved in Indiana when he was 22 years old. Aaron Hart had lived in Hendricks County, Indiana. He had gotten married two times. His first wife had died soon after their marriage. The first wife’s name was Ury Ann. His second wife’s name was Margaret. His two wives were both sisters to each other. His wife’s name was Margaret McKinney, and his two sons were John W. Hart and William Hart. His daughter was Cora P. Hart. He and his family were Methodists. Aaron Hart died on July 10, 1865. Aaron Hart’s death was caused by health issues, and he died at home.

Military Career
Hart mustered in January 15, 1864. He served as the Private of the Company I, in the 9th regiment Cavalry. He was in the 9th Regiment of Indiana. He was part of the Union. There was a total of 236 people died in the 9th regiment. The people mostly died from illnesses. They didn’t go into major battles, but they did go into small fights with the other side. However, Aaron Hart was not one of them.

Content of the Letter
He wrote the letter in 1864, from the District of North Alabama. Hart was writing to his whole family. Hart’s letter mostly says things about missing/dead soldiers. Aaron also says that everyone is excited to get more reinforcements.

Indiana Sanitary Commission December 14, 1864
My dear wife, I once more take my pen in hand to let you now how I am getting a long I am well and hastey at this time and I hope this may find you and children Will and Harty mill Senee I last wrote Wee have moved and cross the Cumberland River wee as now in sight of the reds they ar about as fore from us as it is from your house to arch then it is light every day and of night you can see the flash of the gun mill I don’t now whether wee will have a general fight or not but I think it will well the sooner big fights com off the sooner the ware will bee over and then what is left will come home I think the war is about over.
I will write as often as I can and I want you to write to me as often as you can I can’t get to write often as I could at Pulaski but I will write to you as often as I can Conly higland [and symbol] Sims [and symbol] hawkings [and symbol] hays and all of the boy from town ar well and harty I have not heard from Jesee commings Senee he ment to the hastille.

Dear Wife I once more Take my pen in hand to Let you know how I am geting along I am in good health at this time and I hafe this may find you in good health one hundred of our men started last Monday morning on a seant they meant to florence alabami and had a fight with the rely and we last 8 men We don’t now whether they was killed or not they they I thinker Marshal Kinking was killed and N.F. Adams of our company But they ar not sheere about it
Sept. 11 it is an excite time here now the rules ar Coming on us from 3 direction they ar sayd to bee 10 miles out But Wee have got reinforcement and can Whipe them if they will come I have they have formed William it is late I moust close it is about 11 o.c at night I must close my letter it keeps me busy cooking now
